The &#8220;Make in India&#8221; programme aspires to make India a centre for global manufacturing and create enough jobs. However, there are significant challenges to the success of Make in India due to the state of the industrial industry today. The sector&#8217;s absorptive capacity has a history of declining, which raises severe concerns about the campaign&#8217;s ability to achieve its goals. In this situation, concentrating only on the manufacturing industry seems like a bad plan. The article makes the case that a better method is to discover suitable industrial products and services that can provide enough employment and spark growth.
